The Global Digital Security Forum (GDSF) blows visitors minds on the first day of Secutech Taipei 2014. The four-hour none-stop forum presented by Panasonic, Vivotek, Flir, and Genetec, talking about fully-integrated systems, IP video surveillance, thermal products launched in the commercial market, and seamless unifying on access control and video surveillance.

Kaori Nakazawa, the Chief Engineer of Panasonic, mentioned that Panasonic intends to provide end users a decentralized process system that not only comes with multiple motion detection systems, such as intruder, object, cross line, loitering, direction, and scene change detection, but, more importantly, the ability to eliminate video blind spot and sound dead spot, making sure the recorded data will be used the most.

As an experienced and conservative systems integrator, Andrew Elvish, Vice President of Marketing in Genetec, pointed out that what end users anticipate the most is possessing a right solution that can assist them to bridge the gap between video and access control, offer them a seamless operation interface, and reduce the time and money on training operators and maintaining products. A well-designed management platform should be able to let any operators efficiently conduct under a unified and simple interface combined access control and video surveillance with other edge devices altogether.

Thermal technology, as one of the most important technologies used for military purpose, is now available to reach in the commercial sector, according to Paolo G. Saranga, Business Development Manager in FLIR Systems. In order to enter into commercial market, price and size are two of the top concerns for the end users in this segment. As a compact thermal camera is now available for anyone to equip with on their personal smartphone, this technology has become closer to public's normal life.
