How do smart home suppliers enter the global market?

“The business potential for Smart home security market is limited,” said Tommy Chen, CEO of inXtron , “from middle-class households to business buildings, ADT has already taken the lion's share of the North American market.”

However, some offered a different perspective, indicating the Smart home market is still a “premature market”. “This is a question of perception,” said Veronica Chen, Group Manager of Messe Frankfurt New Era Media. “The concept of home automation has been around for long, yet not many households have fully embraced the idea of Smart home and equipped with the products, showing there are endless business opportunities.”

Moreover, Sam Yang, Sales Engineer at GKB, also mentioned the challenges he faced with Smart home marketing. “I have tried to present our products on crowd-funding site Indiegogo, however, the feedback remained lukewarm,” said Sam Yang.

“Taiwanese suppliers must set up a company in the States and try to understand their cultural context, in order to reach a better understanding of their lives and eventually penetrate the American market,” said Tommy Chen.

“The pressing issue is how Taiwanese suppliers promote innovation and marketing,” said Parson Lee, MD of Messe Frankfurt New Era Media. “Because at the end of the day, production is easy but innovation, as well as marketing, are the difficult parts that Taiwanese suppliers need to engage.”
