Thai companies remain positive: Ymatrix

Thai companies remain positive: Ymatrix
Ymatrix is a dealer for Suprema in Thailand. The company provides biometric devices for access control, time and attendance, door locks, PC, peripherals, and much more. Since the market for time-attendance products are becoming saturated by Chinese manufacturers, especially in the low to mid end, Ymatrix began to shift its focus to access control.

Access control products now make up 60 percent of the company's revenue. Ymatrix has around 20 dealers in and around Bangkok since there are a lot of industrial sectors located in that area. Manufacturing is a major part of the Thai economy, which helps to drive the security industry due to the needed workforce management, video surveillance, and access control in those areas.

Access control seems to have a more peculiar standing in the Thai market. End users tend to employ video surveillance before considering the need for access control. This can be largely attributed to the higher price tag for access control products. Access control will only be installed after an incident occurs, then users will see the need for it.

For Ymatrix, access control is mostly sold to industrial, corporations, factories, etc. The hospitality sector is actually harder to penetrate because owners are more focused on hotel locks instead. However, the access control market will be seeing growth in upcoming years as increasing Thai corporations are seeing a need for it. Newly constructed condos are starting to implement more access control in the main lobbies.
