IP video surveillance is not the only option in the current security market. MFNE organized a seminar to discuss the latest development of analog HD video surveillance technologies, on Sept 12, 2013. At the seminar, 16 companies from Taiwanese CCTV manufacturers and major chipsets providers participated. Everfocus, Fuho, Shany, GKB, Hisharp, Nextchip, and so on joined together to exchange their observation.

Attendees agreed that analog CCTV is still the majority around the world. Leading markets such as the U.K., Germany, France, China, Japan, etc still welcome the HD video surveillance solutions based on coaxial cables. The recent news about Sony CMOS IMX 138 has raised the market attentions on the possibility of analog HD cameras that are more than 800 TV Lines. Despite the fact that Sony CMOS IMX 138 is not originally designed for security cameras, some camera makers have been adopting it with Fullhan FH8520 to launch the “so-called” 1200TVL camera. The scenario has drawn Sony's attention.

But most of the seminar attendees commented that to achieve 1200 TV Lines with this solution is almost impossible, considering the current limitations of imaging technologies. Daniel Wang, Manager of Holy Stone and also the representative of Fullhan Microelectronics, shared that couples of Taiwanese makers have developed 1000TVL analog cameras with the combo of Sony CMOS IMX 138 and Fullhan FH8520. But, according to Steven Shen, Supervisor of AVSdsp, he believes 800 TVL is feasible for security cameras. Over it, buyers should be careful if the extreme TVL is just a marketing expression.

At the moment, Taiwanese camera makers are closely checking the progress of the analog HD solutions and wondering how soon the analog HD recording can be available. The compatible recording solution is the key to decide analog HD surveillance market development.
