Russian IT distributor enhances operations with networked surveillance system
1C Company, a Moscow software developer and official distributor for more than 100 foreign and Russian software suppliers, deployed an IP-based surveillance system to prevent internal theft and increase productivity at its warehouses that employ 10,000 workers. 1C selected Axis Communications cameras, from distributor NNT-Telecom, after reviewing performance compared with other manufacturers, said Sergey Kiselev, Head of Technical Support at 1C. The purchasing decision was made because it was simple to install, operate and maintain for those familiar with cabling infrastructure and software.

1C was searching for a video surveillance system that could provide control over employee activities and ensure effective logistics monitoring. Additionally, the company wanted to verify the delivery process, eradicate mistakes, and take corrective actions to prevent similar errors from reoccurring. Meticulous tests during working hours at various sites were conducted, and then consultants were hired to configure the system to provide coverage on the new logistics center. The project covered all business operations performed at the center, and cameras with various specifications and capabilities were installed in choke points requiring surveillance to ensure full control over all business processes. Continuous recording is especially appreciated as the system operator can see every product unit passing through the warehouse.

Since the system was installed, no incidents of theft have been detected. All employees have reacted positively toward the new system, for which 1C management had conducted an extended information campaign demonstrating the system's capabilities and benefits. “The presence of the Axis video surveillance system at the logistics center has also helped to increase employee morale which, in turn, has increased quality and productivity,” Kiselev highlighted.
