Hdpro is known for its strong mechanical design background. It enjoyed 83.7 percent sales growth in 2011. Hdpro manufactures several video surveillance product lines including analog, HD-SDI and network cameras. Why Hdpro could still grow substantially despite the gloomy economic outlook can be attributed to innovation, fast time to market, and cultivation of its home base.

First, Hdpro provides a complete product lineup in video surveillance and multiple models to choose from, making it a one-stop shop to save customers time and money. Hdpro also responds fast to market needs, depending on its strong R&D team. It is able to develop new models every three months on average. Hdpro's high production volume enables it to have competitive quotations by purchasing components such as DSPs in bulk. Now, Hdpro is one of the biggest clients for many DSP providers. Along with its continuous efforts in maximizing manufacturing and production with effective purchasing management, Hdpro is investing in R&D and testing, attracting many experts in these fields.

Unlike many of its Korean peers, Hdpro focuses on the domestic market. While other Korean companies depend on exports, around 35 percent of Hdpro's revenues are generated by local customers. As a result, the company was less affected by the financial downturn in overseas markets. It gained new customers, whose providers were hit by the global economy and sought out Hdpro to supply their needs.

In 2012, Hdpro focused on analog cameras, but has been preparing to launch its IP products in 2013. John Kwon, COO and Senior VP at Hdpro, said HD-SDI cameras hold great potential in 2013, due to increasing demand and good feedback from EMEA. DVR prices for HD-SDI are dropping and analog cameras are getting cheaper. He predicted HD-SDI prices would come down as well. By using HD-SDI solutions, traditional installers can get more profit from cabling and installation, compared to using IP video surveillance. Therefore, Kwon forecasted good HD-SDI growth by the second quarter of 2013.

Finally, Kwon said Korean companies will likely focus on high-end and niche products. They require a certain degree of quality and durability to beat the competition in the years to come.
