SMC Networks, a provider of networking solutions for the complete digital home, just launched the company's second-generation of home security products.

“SMC was the first networking company to provide home security products for cable operators and service providers, enabling them to break into the fast-growing, IP-based home security market,” said Alex Kim, CEO. “Now, the next-generation home security products are built on proven technology and packed with enhanced new features and functionality.”

SMC's new generation of products includes a 3-G, 7-inch, all-in-one touch screen, combining home automation and alarm panel functionality for homeowners to locally or remotely control home security features. Offered in a stylish, compact package, the touch screen also allows for downloadable widgets that provide homeowners the flexibility to add applications such as home monitoring, automation, energy management and health care.

SMC is also introducing a series of new sensors: smoke, heat, carbon monoxide detector and alarm for home health and safety; upgraded glass break sensor; motion sensor with selectable IR pet immunity; IP water sensor, all featuring excellent coverage, smaller footprints and lower price points. “Our comprehensive suite of new and existing home security products will allow multisystem operators (MSOs) to gain more traction and capture a larger share of the attractive home security market,” said Kostas Stavrianos, VP of Sales. “These perfectly complement other bundled services offered by MSOs.”

The new home security products integrate seamlessly with SMC's gateway platforms, allowing for a completely integrated solution for today's wireless homes. Scheduled to be launched in Q4 of 2012/Q1 of 2013, the products will be available in the U.S. and Canada.
