New UK telecare services certification scheme

New UK telecare services certification scheme

SSAIB, a UK certification body for organizations providing a variety of electronic security, manned guarding services, fire protection, intruder and other alarm systems, unveiled an audit scheme for the increasingly important social alarms sector.

SSAIB is the only certification body to have gained UK Accreditation Service (UKAS) approval for its telecare services scheme (TSS), offering telecare system suppliers, installation and maintenance companies, monitoring centers, response providers and others a significant advantage in this expanding market.

Faced with an aging population, government strategy is focused on helping the elderly and disabled to remain in their own homes. Telecare is becoming an increasingly important element in social and health care services, offering significant diversification opportunities for SSAIB-registered firms.

Open to all telecare service providers, SSAIB's new independent certification scheme allows them to demonstrate third-party compliance with a range of British and European standards, codes and practice, and best practice in terms of professionalism, competence and service quality. The scheme is also modular and flexible, enabling service providers to obtain certification for the specific areas of activity they undertake.

“SSAIB's new TSS is run independently of any trade association, manufacturer or supplier interest, and as a UKAS-accredited scheme, it provides customers with greater confidence,” said Chief Executive Geoff Tate. “Rising demand for telecare services has led to a corresponding increase in interest in the quality of telecare services. So whether you commission telecare services for others or are a beneficiary of these services, you'll want to know that the products and services you buy, and the support that goes with them, will be provided by professional and competent suppliers on whom you can rely.”
