Washington State container port adopts VCA and management software from PureTech Systems
PureTech Systems announced the completed installation of its PureActiv wide area video surveillance system at the Port of Tacoma. The port, located in Washington state, is one of the largest container ports in North America. The port accommodates more than a thousand vessel calls and handles about 1.5 million TEUs each year. It encompasses about 2,400 acres of land on the Tacoma Tideflats, which creates a unique security challenge.

To tackle that challenge, PureTech Systems teamed with security integrator G4S Technology to deploy its PureActiv geospatial video surveillance system. The system manages close to 100 cameras and highlights PureTech's intelligent video analytic capabilities, providing both intruder detection and subsequent autonomous tracking on multiple pan-tilt-zoom cameras. Included with the system are integrations with the AMAG Symmetry access control product, Bosch PTZ cameras and megapixel panoramic cameras by Arecont.

Global Government Services provided the security system design and consulting services for the Port of Tacoma Project. Tanawah (Tanner) Downing, Chief Operating Officer for Global Government Services, explained "The installation of the PureActiv system provides the Port a much desired level of situational awareness and efficiency with its geospatial GUI, alarm management and advanced PTZ control. Similarly, its open architecture allows for integration with a vast array of other perimeter systems and sensors, which will provide a solid growth platform for the Port's future security needs. The Port has implemented a highly capable, concentric layered security solution that I am proud to have been a part of."
