Pakistan's armed forces are the bulwark of the country's defense, protecting the country's freedom and independence, in addition to playing a significant role in politics. The seventh largest armed forces in the world, they fall under the command of the President of Pakistan, who is their commander-in-chief.
One Pakistani base housed over 2,000 staff members, in an area of around two square kilometers (0.77 square miles). A video monitoring system was necessary to guarantee the staff's security. Since the site was strategically important, reliability of the system was paramount. Any system needed to a) provide video analytics functionality and b) support automated alarm reactions. Long-term plans included centralizing surveillance over a number of similar sites, so support for creating a central monitoring point over multiple systems was highly desirable.
“Axxon Smart PRO VMS by AxxonSoft solved all the tasks we had at the cantonment. The intuitive interface made it very rapid for operators to learn the system, they were very happy because of its ease. I must also say, we were very happy because of the free of charge video analytics and configuration of automated reactions to detection tools,” says Muhammad Rizwan Waqar, the project security consultant, and MD of TECHNOSYS.
The military decided on the Axxon Smart PRO VMS and IP cameras from Arecont Vision. Their choice proved successful: it performs all of the tasks required of it at the Pakistani military base and continues to receive positive feedback from users, thanks to its outstanding feature set and easy access to advanced features.
