Pixim announced that deView Europe is launching its IR-assisted dome cameras, integrating Pixim Nightwolf imaging technology, into its already successful deView VDP20 range, which will eliminate hot spots common to IR cameras with near-field reflective objects in the scene and correctly exposes highlights as well as darker background details simultaneously. The integrator-friendly dome camera series is backed by a three-year warranty.

Typical IR-assisted CCD cameras attempt to solve the hot spot problem by either closing down a mechanical iris or dimming the infrared LED lights; the resulting side effect is that the cameras lose critical shadow detail. Based on the innovative digital imaging technology of Pixim Nightwolf, the cameras by deView Europe are able to capture both foreground and background details even in cases where very strong IR lighting is deployed. In addition, the Nightwolf cameras offer daytime color performance capable of covering all lighting conditions night and day, including challenging, mixed lighting scenes. deView IR-assisted cameras boast a resolution of 690 HTVL effective with a dynamic range of 120 dB max.

"There has been a huge gap in security camera offerings because no one has an IR-assisted camera that can actually capture details in both the foreground and background of the image at the same time," says Antonio Garrido, managing director of deView Europe. "With our new dome cameras based on Nightwolf, we can confidently provide cameras that overcome pervasive IR-lighting problems and generate accurate, useable video."
