This commercial bank, located in Jakarta, is one of the largest banks in Indonesia. It is specialized in financial services offerings, such as insurance, credit card and checking/ saving account. The bank currently owns more than 875 domestic branch offices and more than 6300 ATM locations. The commercial bank sourced 2000 units of DVRs from Dahua for their newly introduced ATMs.
The rise and development of ATM not only brings convenience and 24/7 service for clientele, but also reduces part of manual labor investment; but correspondingly, the ATM-based crimes take on an upward tendency, which thereby posts demanding requests on the surveillance system.
As for the video surveillance system, in addition to the highly standardized requirements for the cameras, the back-end device, in this case, DVR is also of the same significance. The bank planed to purchase some necessary security devices to build a surveillance system. They also added that those newly introduced ATMs will be placed in a centralized mode instead of scattered one with a high cost-performanc ratio.
Oriented to the request, Dahua Technology proposed a solution from a totally novel perspective: 4 ATM kiosks pair with 4 cameras & 1 DVR, which can at least spare 2/3 devices compared with the conventional solution, which is adopted in some regions and countries. Dahua tailored DVR0404AS-UD for the bank. This model has 4 RS232 ports on the rear panel, and via which, data & information about the card, account, etc. And time can be extracted and added onto the display, this TEXT OVERLAY function helps a lot when malicious attempts or disputes occurred.
The said TEXT OVERLAY function was originally realized by an additional VDM (Video Display Metafile), which aggravates the wiring and the overall cost also inevitably hovers at a relatively higher level. What makes Dahua come to the fore is the search function, which is of great convenience for forensic end.
Now it comes to a knotty problem — high temperature endurance ability. To resolve this, DVR0404AS-UD adopts the external power-supply plus a dual-fan design to enhance its ventilation performance. As for its outward design, the screen equipped with can reduce much trouble in maintenance. In addition to that, a security lock was also added to the DVR to particularly offset the “purposely grab-away attempt”.
Till now, 2000 units of DVR0404AS-UD have been installed for the bank, and these DVRs are still in a good operation condition after half a year. The spokesman of bank remarked that the DVRs have successfully brought them both tangible and intangible benefits, and the effect has lived up to their expectation. A further cooperation sees many possibilities.
