Firetide and Iron Sky Team up to Optimize US City Surveillance

The City of Norcross, Georgia has selected Iron Sky and Firetide to deliver a turnkey citywide wireless surveillance solution that allows police to view live and recorded video from any computer on their network, including their patrol cars.

“We partnered with Firetide for this project because of the company's reputation and installed base in municipal public safety. City surveillance projects come in all sizes and budgets, and Firetide has a solution that fits a variety of applications and customer needs,” said Keith Drummond, President and CEO of Iron Sky.

Firetide's outdoor wireless network will connect a combination of nine Axis Communications PTZ cameras and two HD fixed surveillance cameras managed by Iron Sky VMS to provide a high-quality video and data integration network system. The cameras and wireless equipment will be placed at key positions along Buford Highway, downtown Norcross and two city parks. Existing City Hall and police department cameras will be fully integrated on to a map-based floor plan and accessible using a standard Web page, with an authorized account. Authorized users will be able to access any camera from any networked PC including officers in patrol cars in network accessible locations.

“This is technology that never sleeps on the job, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year,” said Dallas Stidd, Norcross Police Chief. “It is recordable evidence that any judge or jury will completely understand.”

Iron Sky's intuitive VMS utilizes Google maps to display camera locations throughout the city, enabling users to access video surveillance quickly and easily. In addition to video surveillance, Iron Sky also integrates other applications and information sources onto the network, such as wireless public safety networks, video surveillance analytics, crime statistics, LPR, GPS-tracking and gunshot detection.

“Iron Sky's partnership with Firetide for the Norcross surveillance system will provide the city an affordable and quick solution. Norcross serves as an example to other midsize cities who may think that critical capabilities such as video surveillance are not within financial reach. They are, when enabled by Firetide,” said Bo Larsson, CEO of Firetide.
