DigitalPersona, a provider of authentication and endpoint protection solutions, announced that Tomax, a provider of real-time merchandising and store execution software applications and services, has integrated fingerprint biometrics from DigitalPersona into their PoS and workforce optimization software solutions. By using fingerprint readers, Tomax PoS helps retailers boost productivity through efficient system login, decrease shrink from unauthorized voids and reduce payroll fraud.
According to The Centre for Retail Research's Global Retail Theft Barometer, employee fraud and theft result in approximately US$40.7 billion of retail shrink per year. Additionally, the American Payroll Association estimates payroll fraud can account for up to five percent of total payroll expense. These combine to impact retailers' bottom line, creating the need for solutions such as biometrics that secure the retail environment without affecting business processes.
Tomax provides end-to-end and web-based software solutions, enabling “Retail-in-Realtime.” The company's solutions span common operations such as forecasting, PoS, store systems, reporting, time and attendance and optimization. This allows retailers to be more agile and respond to changing conditions in customer demand and operations across the organization. The company's PoS solution includes support for multichannel environments, tight integration with merchandising and store system modules, full resiliency and support for various pricing and promotional combinations. Tomax PoS with integrated fingerprint biometrics provides retailers with a secure solution to manage cash register functions and payroll.
“Tomax's solutions are designed to make processes across the retail environment fast and efficient. With this in mind, we knew early on that we had to look beyond conventional retail system approaches to meet our customers' needs,” said Andrew Lawrence, VP of Product Development at Tomax. “Adding fingerprint biometrics from DigitalPersona to our solutions allows our customers to process transactions and operate more efficiently and securely.”
“Retailers have identified biometrics as a solution to threats that arise in transaction and payroll operations,” said Jim Fulton, VP of Marketing, DigitalPersona. “DigitalPersona's fingerprint biometrics reduces transactional and payroll fraud, boost productivity and reduce the reliance on passwords, PINs and swipe cards.”
