As a sole proprietorship business based in Germany with worldwide enterprises, the GEA Group specializes in the design, manufacturing and supply of liquid and powder processing systems. In addition to offering project management for the chemical industry, its range of services includes providing processing systems for the food, brewery, beverage, dairy, medication and cosmetic industries.
In August 2008, a new GEA plant was opened in Zhuanqiao, Shanghai. This plant allows centralized production, logistics and service, increasing production capability by 70 percent.
Business Objective
GEA's new plant required a security management system with surveillance, perimeter alarm and access control, providing comprehensive security not only for the entire plant floor, but also for the production workshops, storage and office areas. The access control system functionality had to include staff attendance monitoring and canteen counting.

Bosch Security Systems carefully designed a stable, reliable, convenient and user-friendly security management system for GEA Process Engineering (China) Limited. Bosch's system includes perimeter alarms, video surveillance and an access control system. The entire solution consists of 30 card readers for access control, associate attendance monitoring and canteen entry, as well as more than 30 cameras and more than 10 perimeter sensors.
Bosch's simple, user-friendly access control system allows access to the plant's restricted areas to be managed, enhancing work efficiency. The cutting-edge AEC solution seamlessly integrates Internet server and access control functionality, enabling the operator to manage the system via the internal network at any time and from any location, thereby decreasing the total implementation cost.
The high-performance Bosch video surveillance system monitors the plant perimeters and key locations. Its innovative AutoDome spherical video cameras and Dinion video cameras are exceptionally flexible, even in environments where the lighting changes. They can capture minor details in full, ensuring a high level of real-time surveillance and providing good-quality evidence in the event of incidents.
The plant perimeters are protected by a stable Bosch perimeter alarm system, boasting electronic map display functionality and conventional DS7400 control panels and sensors for the production area. Together, these components make alarm processing much more efficient.
