Joseph Finn announced he is offering for sale the patented technology to integrate germanium photodetectors with silicon circuits at the sealed bid sale of NoblePeak Vision.
NoblePeak has developed and implemented a process flow that incorporates single crystal germanium photodetectors with CMOS circuits. By taking advantage of germanium's sensitivity to longer wavelengths, the technology reaches past the near-IR spectrum into the SWIR. These wavelengths are beyond what silicon-based low light CMOS and CCD cameras can see. Subsequently, illumination from the Earth's natural night glow is now visible and can be utilized to build HD, high performance day/night cameras at commercial prices.
