Comporium announced it selected uControl's Security, Monitoring and Automation (SMA) Platform as it positions its Security Dealer Program for the future. uControl's award winning solution pairs its open, technology agnostic software infrastructure with the industry's only "All-In-One" SMA TouchScreen combining an alarm system, communications gateway and home automation platform into one device. The SMA Platform enables broadband service providers to deliver the next generation of services for the connected home.

"It is a time of radical change in the traditional home security industry — especially when it involves Broadband Service Providers," said Dan Lehman, GM of the Comporium Security Dealer Program. "uControl's platform allows us to immediately offer a future-proof, IP-enabled home security solution that bridges to other Connected Home services like energy management, video monitoring and much more."

Comporium's Security Dealer Program shows innovative service providers how to break into the profitable home security industry. In addition to wholesale security monitoring through Comporium's UL approved Central Station, the dealer program also provides technical support, training for sales and service technicians and "Customize & Go" marketing campaigns to ensure success. The program is now adding uControl SMA Platform hosting to this mix of services. Comporium will continue to leverage its industry expertise as it rolls out uControl's solution to new and existing dealers within its network.

"We're thrilled that Comporium has selected uControl as its next generation platform for home security and the Connected Home," said uControl President and CEO Jim Johnson. "Our platform is especially designed for service provider bundles, increasing revenue and reducing customer attrition rates."

The 7-inch WVGA TouchScreen device is about the size of a traditional alarm keypad. It can be conveniently placed anywhere within the home — whether mounted on a bedroom wall or placed on a kitchen countertop. Because of its all-in-one design and TouchScreen driven activation process, in-home installation complexities, times and costs are reduced when compared to systems that rely on traditional, legacy alarm panels.

The TouchScreen leverages key enabling technologies from the SMA Platform including remote control from any Web browser or cell phone, alerts via e-mail or SMS, redundant connectivity (broadband and cellular), cameras, home automation and interoperability with existing alarm panels from Honeywell, DSC, GE and Bosch. In addition, it is a lightweight network information appliance in the home enabling service providers to deliver video, photos, web content and social networking applications via an open, standards-based Widget Platform. The Widget Platform is also the catalyst for other broadband applications such as residential energy management and home health care monitoring.
