Malaysia has high market potential, giving Axis Communications the opportunity to grow a strong business there and take on projects in various sectors, including retail, critical infrastructure, and city surveillance, said Nafis Jasmani, the firm’s Regional Business Development Manager for South Asia Pacific.

According to NafisJasmani, as far as Southeast Asia is concerned, Axis focuses primarily on four markets – Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. “They are the four countries we see with high potential. If you look at Malaysia, we will have some good opportunities,” Jasmani said.

The top verticals that Axis focuses on in Malaysia are government, critical infrastructure, retail, and transportation. “The biggest potential is actually in retail, and we have a lot of critical infrastructure, city surveillance, and transportation projects. These are the main high-potential sectors,” he said.

Yet that doesn’t mean Axis doesn’t focus on other areas as well, with Jasmani citing healthcare and education as segments that Axis also has an expertise on. “There are a lot of sections in which we are building different ecosystems to meet demands from customers with our ADP partners,” he said. “So it’s quite spread out if you ask, because most of the features that we develop currently with our new products are able to fulfill more segment requirements so that the next step is to get into the design wise phase – does it fit into the environment, for example, for oil and gas.”

Axis is also developing solutions for the industrial sector, for example oil and gas. The company strives to make sure that it is able to offer hardware capability to the industry, Jasmani said.

According to Jasmani, growth will remain robust in Malaysia, at least for the next few months. That gives Axis ample opportunities to kick off a lot of new projects. “We do very intensive education programs and campaigns. We work with our partners to make sure that they are capable of fulfilling different demands from the users,” he said.

The company also participates in lots of regional trade shows, including IFSEC Southeast Asia 2014 held in Kuala Lumpur from Sept. 2 to 4. “We are in this trade show to showcase to different users what we have and how we are able to fulfill their needs with the different systems that we have through our partners,” Jasmani said.
