Everspring progression in the smart home industry

On Jan 24, a&s SMAhome and mySMAhome.com Publisher, Parson Lee met with Nally Chang, Chairman of Everspring to discuss the company's involvement and progress in the smart home industry.

According to Chang, after the Fukushima disaster in 2011, people started to recognize the profoundness of home security is not limited to theft protection, monitoring and other basic functional requirements – instead, electricity safety and energy saving are more important issues in the long-term development of human civilization. Because people are skeptical of nuclear power generation, this led to an increased demand for smart energy-saving products. In recent years, Everspring has been actively restructuring, branching from security business into home energy saving and intelligent system solutions, to develop intelligent application of energy-saving, security, entertainment and other aspects.

That said, the development of Smart Home features can be broadly divided into 4 categories including security monitoring, energy saving, comfort and convenience and home care system, and applying these 4 functions into sensor technology. According to Chang, sensor and wireless communication technology is an integral part of Smart home systems as well as the core of Everspring, with its initial work in design and manufacturing. Chang informatively mentions that Everspring has almost 100 patents listing: micro-vibration sensor, infrared detection as well as optical design technology, developing its own line of electronic (proprietary) communication and development of Bluetooth, Wi-fi, Z-wave, Zigbee and DECT products among other wireless protocols. Everspring is known for its complete product line but also has excellent product integration capabilities. Chang concludes that the development of security control, lighting with accumulated R&D strength into Smart Home industry is not enough. To compete in this industry, not only requires the ability to research and develop hardware, but one must grasp the concept of "people-oriented" and cloud technology to further develop software capabilities.
